Lo Scoglio
The brief was to create a new luxurious (yet eclectic) home that felt like it had been on the land forever. The clients wanted it to feel like one of their favourite hotels in Italy–famed for its artisanal essence and dedication to craft. Material selection was crucial to delivering the element of luxury, as was the need to reflect the client’s dual heritage of both Italian and Australian. Hence the name, Lo Scoglio (The Rock) - “A hint of Italy” in the hills of Byron Bay. In the absence of an architect for this project, Skyline Projects led the design solutions for the client, who was building their dream home in the prestigious suburb of Cooper’s Shoot. The clients are regenerative farmers by trade, so it was essential we honoured the land where possible by sourcing materials that were either recycled or existing on site.
